Preschool & Toddler Program (18 months - 6 years)

Early years are critical for the healthy development of the child. We take great care that the children are in an environment with educators who are inspired by the children they work and play with. Through our daily and seasonal rhythm, we aim for the children to feel secure and form a close bond with the educators. Children best learn from their parents, each other, their educators, and the world around them by first seeing and then by imitating what they see. It is necessary at this age to provide them with as many experiences as possible as the foundation for later learning is laid through imitative play, a key element to our program.

Our educators work to create open–concept spaces, emphasizing balance – both physically and symbolically, self–movement, touch, nature, science, geography, diversity, and their practical life–sense. Our programs are delivered in a calm, nurturing environment that is rich with music and experiential learning. Our programs are geared toward helping the children find their way to connect with others in a social setting and to have a gentle transition into the routines of kindergarten.

Our programs pride themselves on providing a structured, predictable, consistent, child-oriented learning environment. Each child’s interests are woven into the program using a simple approach to presenting the learning materials in a neat, easy to understand method. Learning concepts and materials remain in the room until the children have explored it to their fullest potential. Often, there is peer-to-peer learning which is highly encouraged as this foster's connectivity, collaboration, teamwork, and a sense of pride for the child practicing the teaching as it makes them the knowledge keeper.

There is a great emphasis on the experience and exploration of the natural world. Young children are filled with wonder and curiosity, they see beauty and purpose in everything. It is the educator’s role to foster this sense by creating environments that are beautiful and natural, full of opportunities to explore botany, horticulture, and gain an appreciation for the world around them. Our programs offer an atmosphere that permits exploration of the natural world through gardening vegetables and fruits, caring for exotic and native plants indoors and out, and caring for our spaces by keeping them clean and free from waste. Children make independent discoveries through their experiences of this world and use these discoveries in their own creative play, often reenacting what they already know, adding a little of what they would like to know, and then incorporating it into their day-to-day practices. Using nature to nurture is our greatest asset, so we do not utilize screens to facilitate learning.

To prepare children for kindergarten is our goal, with a primary focus on pro-social behaviors, emotional regulation and expression, and literary preparedness. Children are our future, and we take this quite seriously.
